The one-shots are done (gallery here callmepo.deviantart.com/galler…) and I am back to painting this gift for a friend.

Still got a few things to do before I open up for commissions (which should be soon) as well as deal with my new paradigm...

Everyone has heard of Schrodingers cat - a cat in a box which is considered both alive AND dead until you actually check - I have a sort of Schrodinger's Leg!

While I was housesitting I kept on running into the sharp edge of my friend's bed and about 2 weeks ago I hit it so hard and at a corner that it got gashed pretty bad.

Took a day before it stopped bleeding since it was the shin and the tissue is always in tension so the wound kept on opening up - stupid me did not go and get stitches right away.

The good news is that I was able to go to a clinic Monday and get it assessed but by that time it was already a little infected. Now I am on antibiotics and applying fucidin ointment and fresh dressing 3 times a day to help it get better.

Here is the paradigm:

Because of the dressing I can't observe the leg wound. If I check the wound I am exposing it and have to clean it and apply more ointment and a new dressing.

So here I am typing with an itchy leg that is in a supposed to be healing but feels like it is getting worse and I can't confirm it until I expose it and reset the worries once again.

I am dealing with a Schrodinger's leg. >.<

Itching is living skin, no itching is dead meat, be happy. And as :iconlordaltros: said it is good to let it breath once in a while.

From someone who has plenty of personal experience with wounds and scars.

Stress can complicate the healing process. Try to think about something else, like maybe the Swedish bikini team in the middle of a fabric shortage.

That's unfortunate, but sounds like a pretty funny paradox :)

Huh... well that sounds unfortunate... maybe leave it alone unless it actually starts feeling seriously painful, I don't think itching is that much to worry about.

well its a good sign that its itching. means its healing (most of the time).
and it always good to give something like that some air occasionally. (believe it or not, wounds like that have to "breath" sometimes)
just let it set out in the open for a little bit. you can check out the progress of it then.
of course though, i'm not a doctor and am only referencing my own experiences and what i have learned about such things.

I think getting rid of the infection takes priority over scabbing, but it does feel nice to let it air once in a while.

Be happy it's not a Shrodinger's wang situation.
:iconpapcryplz:
But do get well soon. Hope you got a giggle out of that rather than a cringe.
I-I usually give cringes when I try for giggles. OTL

Man, that sounds nasty. But it makes sense that having some sensation on your leg is better that having none.

Well if its itchy that usually means its healing, if you see "blue" streaks snaking up your leg then worry, and get to an er stat. But with most antibiotics they say things will look like it gets worse as it heals that's way they say to take all of them even if your feeling better.
Hopefully that helps alittle.

That's what they say and it is looking a lot better than before I went to see a doctor - but it wasn't itching then oddly enough.

My fingers are crossed.

As Awr74 says, itching = healing. Been in the same place with a wound of my own. The healing process is far more irritating to the skin and muscle tissue. You're doing the right thing by resisting the temptation to check on it, and don't scratch it either!

I think that is what the dressing is for... to keep me from scratching.
