This is just another nail in the coffin of my good old iMac.

Google has decided to retire any support for my reliable work-horse of a machine as of this week - and this is a pretty impact because of all the google-based sites and programs people routinely use.

Previously this year it was Skype and before that it was tumblr.

All the warning I got when it happened was a big middle-finger and F*** YOU from them when I tried to log in.

I am very reluctant to part with this computer because it was the first art-dedicated machine I bought with my money earned as an artist.

This planned obsolescence is crap because most updates are just features that cater to newest operating systems.

Seriously? I have been getting tons of Mac updates for my phone for features only needed if you have an iWatch!

This is just the new version of bloatware when you are overloaded with new features and functionality that you really just don’t need.

No legacy support anymore… and the period between forced updates is getting shorter and shorter.

Time to either risk an update and hope all my software will work on the new operating system for a year or two… or save up to buy a new comp.

Either case really depresses and stresses me out at the same time.

UPDATE: What a coincidence.  Google is having a software conference right now showing off their new software and platforms to make the world a better place.

Oh oy. I know what you mean. WHen I got my new laptop a couple of years ago i feared Photoshop CS2 (which I use) wouldn't work, but thankfully it does (on windows 8.1) though I still don't know WHY they have apps... on a PC.
