Sorry for not being regular with health updates but with a knee/leg injury, it does take a lot of time to heal.  So being optimistic and proudly announcing how healed my knee is is just asking for re-injury. LOL. (knocks on wood)

I have stopped using the cane to walk for few stretches, but I can't risk taking long walks on the beach or standing in line for a movie without it starting to twinge again.

My doctor tells me it does take time to heal - especially with my present age/weight/level of activity - so I am not going to push it.

Now with regards to the three things that affect my healing process: I can't do anything about my age and with the bum knee, upping my activity level is a no-go right now.

So what is left? My weight.

My doctor was able to book me with a nutritionist and I started the new diet a week ago.  The diet works in phases and the first phase is carb, fat and sodium restrictions which is supposed to up my metabolic rate. Not exactly a flavor sensation when making meals but I can make do. At least I am not hungry.

Well, something must be working because I lost 20 pounds in a week - and still got a week to go in this phase.

:iconlimeykat: has said that a good portion of that is water retention (because of the reduction of sodium intake) so I am at my "dry weight" (a dialysis term).

I like to think of it as my fighting weight and I have to admit my clothes are a little looser and it is a little easier to walk.

Here's hoping I can get this leg healed enough to walk around with my family for Nuit Blanche in October. ^_^

Good to hear the you've found the diet that works for you. I have a hormone imbalance due to pan hypo pitutarism that caused my weight problem. But with hormone replacement treatments and diet I've lost over two hundred pounds and counting and I'm definitely getting around better and not getting winded like I used to before I was diagnosed.  Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be able to jion your family for this special event.
