Agreed, I'm not too keen on a number of the change they've made myself (Thank God they're changing Power-Girl's outfit back to normal though ). And definitely look into Red Hood and the Outlaws. You might not like some of the changes off the bat, but they manage to grow on you. I'll agree with you on how they've screwed over the Marvel Family too, which is a real shame considering they were the light-spot of the DCU, less grim and gritty than most of the other titles. They were to DC what Squirrel Girl is Marvel (lol ).
Hopefully not, especially since she gives me the "responsible big sister" vibe in this incarnation of the Marvel Family, with Bill being the bratty kid brother with no real sense of responsibility... Until he realizes how much of a big deal being the acolyte of Shazam is.
As for JLA, I'm hoping no one dies. Seriously, it's like Kirby Krackle said in Another New Crisis, "Nobody always needs to die, we don't need all summer long, for the same old dance and song... We get so tired of it."
